JUMPING IN LATE!

Actually, the “single point of failure” is a great reason to use Posterous.

I use it for back-end posting, but rarely as a destination all by itself.

If something were to happen to Posterous, I could still manually do things on the various sites Posterous is serving for me.

I own the destinations.

Of bigger interest from a “single point of failure” perspective is link-shorteners.

And I now roll my own: http://ike4.me/3

I guess if you spread things out— my Posterous photos go to Flickr, video to Vimeo, etc.- you can mitigate the “single point” problem.

I love Utterli, but gotta figure out if they’re going to be around mu longer– from what I hear, it won’t be.

Doug – Funny, just *this morning* I was thinking about Utterli and recalling what a big user of the platform you were. I was going to ping you to ask if you were still using it. The single point of failure is frequently on my mind. And it is one of the reasons why I am so skeptical of Posterous. And, for that matter, cloud computing…but that’s another whole post.

Cheers.
