And as online networks overlap real ones, using a real name makes more sense.

I blame Jermemiah Owyang and the whole social media ethics movement. It’s the new cool thing. You would think I’m lying, but LizWebPage is not only my brand, but my name: I’m Liz Page, Web Professional. (sounds vaguely superhero-ish or double-07-like, right?)

On a serious note, do the companies I work for necessarily want to be associated with my off-hours antics? There is no longer any line between on- and off-the-clock. I think it’s a dilemma!

We are reverting back to a time when your reputation is more important than annonyminit.

I was toying with the idea of doing the reverse and going with ScoMon, but figured it would be too troublesome to change all of my accounts.

It worked for the crowd I was running with, but not so well with newcomers.

As I’m looking to reach out to people and companies who may just be getting their feet wet with social media, giving out my blog URL of BryanPerson.com just feels a lot more comfortable.

Curious to see what others have to say.

I mentioned it on Twitter yesterday, at least 3 of my Twitter friends have gone from some nickname to the firstname-lastname angle. I think they are just copying us. ;)
