Time for another Social Media Top 5, where I look at trends in social media and social networks, even if I have to make stuff up.
1. Super Duper Fantastic Incredible Amazing Tuesday passes, and candidates seem to be locked in to forgetting social media existed. Heck, we may even be headed back even further, to the good old days of the smoke-filled convention back room. I should think that John Edwards would have more time to devote to Twitter though.
2. Actually, the candidates do turn to the Web and social networks for things they need quickly, like money. And money. And funds. Might I recommend a better use of your online dollars? Support the Jimmy Fund, fighting cancer in children. I am riding 160 miles this summer in the Pan Mass Challenge to support the cause:It’s not frozen peas, but it’s still a great cause.
3. I will be presenting at a Social Media Breakfast in Boston on Wednesday, February 13, on “How Twitter Changed My Life.” Also presenting, Jim Storer of Mzinga, Scott Monty of crayon, and Laura “Pistachio” Fitton of Pistachio Consulting. I have let organizer Bryan Person know that I will under no circumstances follow Pistachio. She’ll stop at nothing to get a crowd fired up.
4. Sarah Silverman’s “I’m ****ing Matt Damon” video is a huge hit on YouTube, and Snapple, which had a brief product placement, plays along. My suggestion for the follow-up? Jennifer Garner singing “I’m ****ing Casey Affleck,” with predictable howls of protest from Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck’s baseball glove. No thoughts yet on possible product placement for that one.
5. An 8-year-old has 4,000 subscribers to her podcast. I quit. Well, not really.
btw– I know I have had some contributors to my Pan Mass challenge Ride already– just can’t seem to sync it up with my ChipIn widget
Is this the same ChipIn you’ve got in your Facebook profile? Where’d my money go? Didn’t I give enough to get a link to my blog? ;-)
See you on ooVoo, doughaslam
Somehow the Facebook Chipin widget doesn’t talk to this original widget. I blame Facebook. I know what you can do to make it look right though :)
the fit of the baseball glove is always critical to get a good a pitch —
