I am probably more of a jazz music fan than anything else, but certain types of rock music aways get to me. I came across Nashville, Tennessee-based The Shazam several years ago when I was getting into music by The Move (the band that became Electric Light Orchestra) and saw that The Shazam were heavily influenced by The Move, ELO and Roy Wood, founder of both bands.
They have spent several years under the radar, but have a few very enjoyable albums out there, and are reportedly planning a new one shortly. Their few spotlight moments include a song on a Coors commercial (I forgive them; the song works) and inclusion on “Little” Steven Van Zandt’s “Coolest Songs in the World” CD.
Anyway– I really like this band and thought I would share this trippy video of “On the Airwaves,” a song that appears on the Little Steven CD. One of the animated characters who is supposed to be part of The Shazam actually looks a lot like Little Steven:
