The Newest Entrant in the Twitter Primer Business is… Twitter
A primary rule in communications is tell your own story. Twitter has been happy to let others do that for now.
What with books about how to use Twitter proliferating (my biased choice: Twitter for Dummies by Laura Fitton, Leslie Poston and Michael Gruen), I guess it seems that Twitter should actually get in the game of telling people how to use their service. Hence, Twitter 101 (which should be called Twitter for Business 101).

Twitter Must Stop Spam/Twitter IS Stopping Spam (Hey, Where Did All My Useless Spammy Followers Go?)

No sooner did I see a Chris Brogan post expressing frustration at the increasing spam on Twitter and imploring them to somehow disable how people use third party applications to spam, then I see another post from Mashable about how Twitter has been nuking spam accounts. Of course, people freak when they correspondingly see their follower numbers go down as Twitter throws their buckets of water on these Wicked Witches of the West, but– quality over quantity, remember?

Amazon Buys Zappo’s
Interesting that a lot of people talk about Amazon buying Zappo’s for their company culture. Isn’t that the hardest thing to keep when being integrated into a new parent company? We’ll see, I guess. Meanwhile, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ unwillingness to talk to media about the deal brought out some championship snark from Fast Company’s David Lidsky. I’ve always been a fan, and his “live blogging” of this video from the POV of a Zappos employee makes me laugh.

A sampling:
“1:06 My first time hearing Bezos’ infamous laugh with him as my boss. Kind of a letdown to be honest.”

“Don’t Spam Us with Press Releases say Global Bloggers”

Well, I’m glad that’s settled.

Sam Raimi to Direct World of Warcraft Movie

That’s not social media, but I’m outta Schlitz. I’m not a WoW guy, but if Bruce Campbell is in the movie I’ll watch it.
